ASAF Asian Championship 2016

The ASAF Asian Championship 2016 is the Continental Qualifier for Rio 2016 which will be held during 05 - 12 March 2016 at Abu Dhabi, UAE for six Olympic classes. The event is the second Qualifying event of the World Sailing’s continental qualification system to be held in Asia.
Competitors in the Laser (Standard), Laser (Radial), 49er, 49erFX, RSX (Men and Women) events will have six days of fleet racing from Monday, March 7 to Friday, March 12 where medals will be awarded to the top three boats.
Two winners in the Laser (Standard), Laser (Radial), RS:X (Men) and one each in 49er, 49erFX and RS:X (Women) event from ASAF Asian Championship 2016 will qualify their nations for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
All athletes must comply with the provisions of the Olympic Charter currently in force, including but not limited to, Rule 41 (Nationality of Competitors).

About Asian Sailing Federation
The Asian Sailing Federation is the Governing Body for the sport of sailing in Asia and was created in Pattaya, Thailand on 16 December 1978 and is affiliated to the Olympic Council of Asia and World Sailing.
There are currently 28 Member National Authorities in Asia, recognised by their National Olympic Committees which are members of the ASAF.
